Please Welcome Author
Sugar Jamison
How exciting it is to have one of the Authors you follow, bite your fingernails to the quick, waiting for the next book to be released. Yes!! Thats right I am a HUGE fan of Sugar's work. So imagine how eye bugging happy I am to have her answer my interview questions.
Question 1. Are you a planner or pantster kind of writer?
Planning out a book gives me hives! I usually know how my book is going to end and then I spend the rest of the time trying to figure out how to get there. I generally am a fast writer so I am constantly asking myself, “What is the point of this scene?” How does it move the story forward?
Question 2. Who are Two of your favourite Authors? and why?
This is hard. I have to pick 4, two contemporary and two historical.
- Jennifer Crusie wrote Bet Me. It was the first plus sized heroine I have ever read.
- Susan Elizabeth Phillips because her work is funny and touching and so satisfying.
For historical
- Mary Balogh because the way she writes is so beautiful and her descriptions are so rich. I never put down her books without taking something away from it. Reading her work makes me a better write.
- Elizabeth Hoyt because I love a good dark historical romance and she is by far the best at writing them. I have read every single one of her books and she is one of those authors I sit on pins and needles waiting for.
Question 3. Favorite book you have written so far?
I don’t know if I have a favorite. The first draft of Gentlemen Prefer Curves gave me hell, but during revisions I really fell in love with that book and the little girl in it. I love A Curvy Girl for the Cadet. Clayton is by far my favorite hero. I also love Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas because I turned who some readers saw as a villain into a heroine and I ended up really liking writing that transformation.
Question 4. If you could have written someone else book, which one would you write?
50 Shades of Grey so I wouldn’t have to worry about money ever again! Just kidding. I don’t think I can answer that question. I will say that I wish I was as brilliant as Jennifer Ashley when she wrote The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie because she made a hero with moderate Autism sexy and brave and the way she depicted how people with Autism think and feel and react was so well done. I wish I could do characterization that well.
Question 5. Best book boyfriend and why?
This is a hard question to answer. I love a wounded hero. I think Gabe Bonner from SEP’s Dream A Little Dream. He wasn’t perfect and that’s what made the story so perfect. That entire book was so well done.
Question 6. Any sneak peek as to what you are working on now?
Currently I am working on book three in my Bad Boys of Destiny series. The heroes all had a tough childhood but they turned out to be good men despite everything that they were up against. I love my current hero, Levi, because he loves his heroine so completely and he has since they were kids. Friends to lovers is probably one of my favorite tropes.
Once again Thank you to Sugar for taking the time to answer these questions. If you enjoyed the interview, I will be doing a youtube review on Wednesday so check it out and see which book of Sugar's is my favourite by far
