Sugar Jamison Interview

Please Welcome Author

Sugar Jamison

How exciting it is to have one of the Authors you follow, bite your fingernails to the quick, waiting for the next book to be released. Yes!! Thats right I am a HUGE fan of Sugar's work. So imagine how eye bugging happy I am to have her answer my interview questions.

Question 1. Are you a planner or pantster kind of writer?

Planning out a book gives me hives! I usually know how my book is going to end and then I spend the rest of the time trying to figure out how to get there. I generally am a fast writer so I am constantly asking myself, “What is the point of this scene?” How does it move the story forward?

Question 2. Who are Two of your favourite Authors? and why?

This is hard. I have to pick 4, two contemporary and two historical.
  1. Jennifer Crusie wrote Bet Me. It was the first plus sized heroine I have ever read.
  2. Susan Elizabeth Phillips because her work is funny and touching and so satisfying.
For historical
  1. Mary Balogh because the way she writes is so beautiful and her descriptions are so rich. I never put down her books without taking something away from it. Reading her work makes me a better write.
  2. Elizabeth Hoyt because I love a good dark historical romance and she is by far the best at writing them. I have read every single one of her books and she is one of those authors I sit on pins and needles waiting for.

Question 3. Favorite book you have written so far?

I don’t know if I have a favorite. The first draft of Gentlemen Prefer Curves gave me hell, but during revisions I really fell in love with that book and the little girl in it. I love A Curvy Girl for the Cadet. Clayton is by far my favorite hero. I also love Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas because I turned who some readers saw as a villain into a heroine and I ended up really liking writing that transformation.

Question 4. If you could have written someone else book, which one would you write?

50 Shades of Grey so I wouldn’t have to worry about money ever again! Just kidding. I don’t think I can answer that question. I will say that I wish I was as brilliant as Jennifer Ashley when she wrote The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie because she made a hero with moderate Autism sexy and brave and the way she depicted how people with Autism think and feel and react was so well done. I wish I could do characterization that well.

Question 5. Best book boyfriend and why?

This is a hard question to answer. I love a wounded hero. I think Gabe Bonner from SEP’s Dream A Little Dream. He wasn’t perfect and that’s what made the story so perfect. That entire book was so well done.

Question 6. Any sneak peek as to what you are working on now?

Currently I am working on book three in my Bad Boys of Destiny series. The heroes all had a tough childhood but they turned out to be good men despite everything that they were up against. I love my current hero, Levi, because he loves his heroine so completely and he has since they were kids. Friends to lovers is probably one of my favorite tropes.

Once again Thank you to Sugar for taking the time to answer these questions. If you enjoyed the interview, I will be doing a youtube review on Wednesday so check it out and see which book of Sugar's is my favourite by far

Please Welcome this Author !

Wow! What a pleasure it is to welcome Colleen Oakes to my blog today. Colleen has been one of my favourite Authors for the last few years, so imagine my squeal when she happily agreed to answer some questions I had been longing to ask.

Question 1.  What was the motivation behind writing? When did you decide to make a career out of it?

I have always dreamed of being an author. I remember in 4th grade telling my teacher that I wanted to write books, and she encouraged me to write some for the classroom.  No matter what anyone says, I think encouraging wild dreams when kids are young matters. I then went on to get my degree in English, and then became a wedding florist. It was in the midst of being a wedding florist that the idea for Elly in Bloom came to me.  On New Year's Eve, I got together with another friend (Emily Kiebel, who wrote the great Serenade) and we decided to write a novel in a year.  Elly in Bloom came out of that, and then Elly in Love, followed by Queen of Hearts and Wendy Darling.  I finally decided to make a career out of it when I was having an incredibly hard time juggling the wedding florist job and my writing time.  It was a risk - a big one - but I knew that this was the direction I wanted my life and career to go. Being a wedding florist IS a dream job, but it wasn't MY dream job.

Question 2. Who do you most admire as an author?

I am a big fan of Ann Patchett and Christopher Paolini. Both write beautifully, one more literary fiction and the other high-brow fantasy. Both are books that I can - and have - waited in a blizzard to have signed. Their careers show maturity and longevity, and their creativity is unmatched.

Question 3. Your favorite book ?

Ahh, this is always such a hard question!  Classic? Jane Eyre. Contemporary: A toss up between The Poisonwood Bible and Bel Canto.

Question 4. From you own books, what character do you most relate to? and why?

I wish I was more like Wendy Darling - shy, polite and good, but I think I am most like Dinah - I have a fury in me that can grow dark at times.  While I relate to her, I think physically and realistically I am pretty much Elly in a more northern local.

Question 5. Favorite book boyfriend?

It's sort of embarrassing, but Edward Cullen made me swoon BIG TIME, but I also have soft spots for Quentin from The Magicians, Peeta from the Hunger Games and Eragon from The Inheritance Saga.

Question 6. List one thing you have on your bucket list and hope to achieve?

At some point in my life, I want to attend an Olympic Games. Summer, preferably.

I would love to thank Colleen for taking the time to answers these questions that give us a little insight into the life of an Author. For some great reading feel free to check out her books below

Curve My Heart by Sarah Gai

Curve My Heart

Follow this amazing plus sized trio in this third and final instalment of The Curvies. Curvy girl Skyla has spent the last few years giving a helping hand and meddling in the lives of her two best friends, Elise and Bree. But is Skyla ready for her own chance at happily ever after? Alex Barnes has been head over heels for the cute curvy since the moment they met. After years of sitting on the side lines, it's finally time to pursue the woman who drives him crazy. Will Alex get the girl? Or will Skyla run when the fun stops and secrets are revealed?

This by far has to be my favourite instalment to write. Alex was my dream man in this series and alot of Skyla was based on myself ( yes I do mini clap and squeal at just about anything lol).

Fall in love with this chick and send me a message about what you think of The Curvies.
Don't forget to follow thecurvies.blogspot.com fan blog and get to know more about them

Curve my Attitude by Sarah Gai

Curve My Attitude

Continue to follow this plus size trio. With a lot more love, drama and plus sized laughs. Elise Michaels never expected in a million years that the man she betrayed would wind up at her best friend's wedding. Charlie Barnes left his home town right after high school and never planned on returning. Now back to support his life long friend, will he be able to handle seeing the woman who broke his heart? Will Charlie ever forgive the Feisty Curvy? Or is love lost between this unlikely duo? With the help of her two best friends, the cute Skyla and sexy curvy Bree, anything is possible!

When I wrote this second book in the novella set I knew exactly how it was going to go. Remember when I told you these books were based on the craziness of me and my best friends? Well my bestie is exactly like this character, a little too much lol.

Check out this second book and fall in love with Elise and Charlie

I also LOVE!!! to hear from fans of these light hearted novellas. So be sure to follow me on google and Facebook or twitter and drop me a line

Curve My Song by Sarah Gai

Here is the first book in
The Curvies series, Curve My Song

*Revised and updated second edition* Fall in love with this larger than life trio. Follow the Curvies as they stumble through life, romance, drama and some plus sized laughs. Sassy full figured Bree carson loves her life, her singing and her two curvy best friends, the chubby Skyla and the always feisty Elise. But still she feels something is missing. Taylor Cole returns to his home town after leaving a decade ago. When Bree and Taylor are thrust together, old sparks from the past reignite. But can Taylor break through the walls securely built around Bree's heart? Will Bree let him?

I wrote these cute clean novellas, based upon my actual relationships with my Two best friends. Although they are fiction, their is a lot of us in each character.
